After
opening a shop on Etsy in early 2013, I was doing what many of us
like to do, “window shop” on all the unique shops there are on
Etsy. I had learned how to “fave” a shop itself and/or the items
within a shop. I had set up my favorites boards and was having a
ball with it. I was window-shopping for all manner of country
vintage items that I had memories of growing up.
On
this particular day, I received my first message from another Etsy
shop owner, (whose shop I had faved many items in that day), thanking
me for visiting her shop and faving so many items. She also wanted
to let me know how much she liked my Avatar for my Etsy account, as
it was very similar to hers. This very kind lady then invited me to
“check out” a team that she was on in the Etsy community that
involved everything vintage. “Team?” I thought, what’s an Etsy
team? I’d never heard of such, didn’t know they existed! She
had included the address to the team so that I could easily go right
to the team page. I looked around the team page, read what they were
about and fell in love with the warm friendly atmosphere that I found
there. I joined the Vintage Vertigo Team immediately! I was
welcomed with open arms from all team leaders and members, and knew I
had found a home away from home there with so many like-minded folks.
It was wonderful!
Learning
my way around the team threads took no time at all, and I was
instantly hooked. I have since gotten to know many of my teammates
quite well. Even though we’ve never met face-to-face, we feel like
old friends. We chat, share, and help to promote one another’s
shops. Many of my teammates have been on Vintage Vertigo much longer
than I have and know each other even better. However, they have made
me a part of their team and have helped me in ways they will never
know. I can only hope to give back to them what they have so kindly
given to me…. Friendship.
