A Turkey Of A Tale

New Year's and April Fool's Day are my day's to pull a prank on someone.  With that, I thought I'd share with you a little story of a prank that was shared with me recently.

"A Turkey Of A Tale"

A father and son were honored with the duty of cooking the Thanksgiving turkey.  Upon commencing with the preparation of the turkey, the son had a great idea.  "Dad, let's take that Cornish game hen from the fridge and stuff it in the turkey like a Turderkin!" exclaimed the son.  The father thought it was a great idea and proceeded with the preparation.

Time came to gather everyone at the table and upon completion of the giving of thanks and grace, Dad proceeded to carve the turkey.  Having sliced one side of the breasts and plating the meat, the Dad thought it would be good to start scooping the stuffing from the turkey.

Two or three scoops in, Dad realized he needed to pull the game hen from the cavity of stuffing to afford him more access.  It was at that point that Grandma sitting in anticipation of the grand feast noticed that Dad was pulling something foreign from the turkey's cavity and in one swift motion, stood and shouted... It's pregnant!! You killed the BABY!!!!  Then fainted to the floor.

Momma's don't let your babies grow up to be pranksters!

The Christmas Rose

On a cold December night, everybody was coming to see their new Savior and brought Him all kinds of gifts and presents. The three Wise Men came in with their valuable gifts of myrrh, frankincense and gold and offered them to...

At that point, a

who had seen the wise men passing through, reached the door of the stable, to see the Child. However, being very poor and having brought nothing to offer to the child.

she felt helpless and started weeping quietly at the sight of all the wonderful gifts that the

 had got for the child.

Earlier, she had searched, in vain, for

all over the countryside but there was not even a single bloom to be found in the bitter winter.

outside the door was watching over her and knew about her fruitless search. He took pity on her and, when he saw her head drooped down in sorrow, decided to help her with a little miracle. She gently brushed aside the snow at her feet and where her tears had fallen, sprang a beautiful cluster of waxen

 with pink tipped petals.

Then the

softly whispered into the shepherdess's ear that these Christmas roses are far more valuable than any myrrh, frankincense or gold, for they are pure and made of love.

The maiden was pleasantly surprised when she heard those words and joyfully gathered the flowers and offered them to the Holy Infant, who, seeing that the gift was reared with tears of love, smiled at her with gratitude and satisfaction.  It came to symbolize hope, love and all that is wonderful in this season, thus .....

While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.

Mamma in her

and I in my cap,
Had just settled down for a long winter's nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow,
Gave a lustre of midday to objects below,
When what to my wondering eyes did appear,
but a miniature

With a little old driver so lively and quick
I knew in a moment he must be

More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called out their names...
Now...

So up to the housetop the coursers they flew

He was dressed all in fur from his head to his foot,
and his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,
and he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.
His eyes—how they twinkled! his dimples, how Merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a

CHERRY!

His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard on his chin was as white as the snow;
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke, it encircled his head like a

He had a broad face and a little round belly
That shook when he laughed, like a bowl full of jelly.
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old

And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself.
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the

then turned with a jerk.

laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;
He sprang to his

and away they all flew like the down of a thistle,
but I heard him exclaim, as he flew out of sight...
